The journey to a doctoral degree has never been easy. A fair number of candidates dropped out in the middle of the program while come are not able to complete writing the thesis. Is the doctoral program a white elephant that is beyond the reach of an average person? Dr. Jeremy Cheng has successfully obtained his PhD degree within 3.5 years while managing an international company Haarmann & Reimer, a fully owned subsidiary of Bayer AG. In his speech, Dr. Cheng will be sharing his experience in the PhD odyssey. He will be explaining his own key success model which is not only built for the academic purpose but also applicable in the business world.

Dr Jeremy Cheng
Chief Executive Officer, Fragrance Resources Asia Pacific Ltd.
Dr. Jeremy Cheng has over 20 years of experience in managing MNCs in Asia Pacific region. Dr. Cheng started his own business in 2003 by forming a joint venture in China with a German company, Fragrance Resources GmbH, one of the top 10 fragrance houses in the world creating fragrances for prestigious perfume and cosmetics companies. Dr. Cheng undertakes on-going researches and some of the results were presented at the 2004 European Operations Management Conference held at INSEAD in France and published in the proceedings.

Dr. Lam held various management positions at different prestigious MNCs, including Jardine Wines & Spirits, The Coca-Cola Company, KFC International, H.J. Heinz Company, HK Science Park etc. In recent years, Dr. Lam was invited by HKTDC to conduct speech at Tokyo Biotechnology Seminar on the HK advantages for biotechnology companies. His DBA research paper was geared to influence policy makers in HK, and was presented to the Chief Executive of the HKSAR. |
